White Memorial Medical Center (WMMC) is a 353-bed teaching hospital in Boyle Heights, California, serving Los Angeles County. The medical center's key services include advanced diagnostic imaging with cardiac imaging capabilities, behavioral medicine, cancer care, cleft palate program, diabetes care and treatment, Level III emergency services (EDAP facility), gastroenterology, inpatient and outpatient surgical services, heart, vascular and stroke care (including an accredited STEMI Receiving Center, an Advanced Certification Primary Stroke Center and a state-of-the art arrhythmia treatment center), orthopedic care, Level III neonatal intensive care, rehabilitation, skilled nursing facility, women’s and children’s services.
As a teaching hospital, the medical center offers medical residencies in family medicine, ranked number one in the state; internal medicine; OB/GYN and podiatry. In 2013, WMMC graduated 25 physician residents and 63 nursing residents.
US News & World Report ranked WMMC 11th out of 140 best hospitals in the Los Angeles area, and the American Diabetes Association recognized the Diabetes Services for its Self-management Education Program. In 2013, WMMC had 20,184 admissions, 4,052 deliveries, 51,833 emergency visits and 66,385 outpatient visits. The medical center is staffed by more than 550 physicians, 69 medical residents, 1,943 employees and 187 volunteers.
